Blightsoul blinked a couple of times. Whhaaattt? Foxfang could very much be playing jokes on her--he was known to do that. She walked out of the den to yell at him but froze completely at the sight of Speedwell standing there. Why am I frozen? she thought angrily. She didn't know, she just knew that the mere sight of him made her freeze, make her heart stop. What Foxfang said could not be true. A mentor loving his apprentice? No. She slowly unfroze herself and walked back to the den, all the way to the back so she pressed her back against it. She was hidden in the shadows, but the scent of monster dung was strongly through the air. Surely, if Speedwell came in, he would smell her out.

Sunsetstar didn't respond for a second, but narrowed her ice blue eyes. "If a warrior makes stupid mistakes that an apprentice would make, they aren't worth a rat's tail to this clan." she hissed at the warrior. She moved around him; ignoring the fact that he was right, it was only her first day as a warrior. But she was stubborn, and she wasn't about to apologize.

Speedwell let out a little huff and turned toward the Warrior's den. Foxfang had left the camp, probably for patrol. Blightsoul was cowering in the shadows when he entered. His wild green eyes flashed with concern, but he let out a little chuckle, "It looks like you've just seen a spirit." He was obviously oblivious to Foxfang's previous acts. The tom simply crept over to his nest and settled down. He brought a hind leg up in front of him and groomed it peacefully. "Everything alright?" Speedwell murmured after a moment.

Blightsoul didn't answer. She merely unattached herself from the wall to her nest. Her ears were flat on her head. "The leader just yelled at me--how do you think I feel?" she growled. That wasn't completely a lie--she wasn't upset about the leader yelling at her. "Try almost getting run overed and then your leader yelling at you because you're stupid to run onto the thunderpath. StarClan, I feel great." She let out a groan a literally collapsed on her bed. She looked up at Speedwell with dull eyes. She really wanted to ask him if it was true, but not now... She could bear herself to ask the question. She put a paw over the side of the nest and put her head on it.
She was completely drained right now. It's not every day that you almost get run overed and get covered in monster dung. On her first day of being a warrior, too! God, Speedwell could very much think she was a failure. He must be dissapointed that his first apprentice almost got killed from hunting on her first day with him with the apprentice. She put her paws over her head.

Speedwell smiled sympathetically. "Don't worry about Sunsetstar. She's just stubborn." The tom purred softly. "She'll forget about it eventually." He murmured. Of course, he was still ticked off at Sunsetstar himself, but he let it slide. He had to, he couldn't be angry with his leader. With a sigh, he softened his voice again. "And you just rest, okay? You've been through a lot today, more then any new warrior should have to go through." Speedwell chuckled a bit. "It's not that bad. It could have been worse."

Blightsoul looked at Speedwell for a moment. She was so small in her nest, she couldn't take it. She crawled to where Speedwell lay and she curled up near his stomach. She put her tail over her nose. "I'm cold," she explained quietly. And to prove it, she shivered slightly, curling up tighter. She felt more confined at this spot and she loved it--especially the warmth. She knew Speedwell would think it was weird, but she needed it right now. She needed to feel the comfort of her mentor.

Speedwell smiled down at Blightsoul. A little purr managed to work up in his throat, and his eyes narrowed fondly. He shifted a bit to make room for her, and make himself comfortable before washing her over with his tongue. His tongue moved up her back, move her fur back and making it fluff up- like a mother would her kit. But this was simply out of affection. "You just rest, Blightsoul." The tom purred. His eyes had closed as he shared tongues with her.

Blightsoul wanted to stay awake and just enjoy this feeling but sleep beckoned her. She kept going in and out of the sleep realm, trying to keep that feeling going, but she suddenly faultered and she fell asleep. She felt so calm, so peaceful. She felt like she was at the beach with her mother, where her mother pulled her out of the salty ocean and was cleaning her fur. She could feel the warmth of the sun on her fur and see how truly bright it was. There, she was free and she was with the one she loved.
Here, she may not be free, but she was with the one she loved. Doesn't that count?
[ *some time the next day ]
Blightsoul blinked open her sky blue eyes, lolling her tongue out of her mouth. She moved her head up slowly, but was met by unwanted cold air. She curled closer to the soft fur that smelled so great. She dug her nose into it, breathing deeply.

Speedwell had moved since last night. Actually, he had just gotten back from Dawn Patrol along ShadowClan border. He had been glad to see Blightsoul still asleep, and gladly resumed his position next to her. And surprisingly, he was out like a light. Other cats noticed, sure, but it didn't bother him one bit. Even when Foxfang came in, and he could tell he was there now, he didn't bother about.
"Awwwe. Look at the cute little couple." He purred while he circled the two sleeping cats before sitting down in his own nest. "That's really sweet." Foxfang snickered. His cerulean blue eyes were narrowed slightly, but shown obviously in the dark den. "Except miss Blightsoul has to get up soon." The russet tom muttered in a quieter voice.

As if on cue, Blightsoul snapped awake, jolting her head upwards towards the cold outside of the den. She sprang to her feet and jumped out of Speedwell's nest, blushing furiously. "Foxfang! You scared me!" she hissed at the ginger tom angrily. She lashed her tail back and forth. She needed to talk to him about yesterday, but, chances was, she'd never get it. That cat was a peice of work.

Foxfang purred with laughter. His cerulean blue eyes continued to appear narrowed and deep looking. They glanced to Speedwell who was stretching his front legs out in a funny fashion. "Oh, I'm sorry to disturb you two lovebirds," Foxfang said in an exaggerated voice, "But, Blightsoul is wanted for sun-high patrol, now." Foxfang said with a fox-like smile.

Blightsoul flinched. "May StarClan have mercy on you," she growled at Foxfang. She then jumped out of the den, jumping over cats' nests. She reached the outside, but she was blinded temporarily by the sun. She grunted and walked to the clearing. Oh, StarClan... What would she do know? She'd always been woken up by Speedwell and he always knew where to go. She didn't know where to meet for the patrol, or who was in it, or who orginized it... Sunsetstar was sure to have her pelt by sun down.

Speedwell narrowed his eyes at Foxfang, "Don't be so mean." He said in a semi-serious voice. Foxfang merely chuckled and backed out of the den. The russet tom loped around and frolicked back up beside Blightsoul. "You really are hopeless aren't you?" He snickered and turned towards another cat nearby. "The patrol is this-a way." He called and stepped up to the other cat with a little nod.

Blightsoul blinked at him. She flicked her black-tipped tail in annoyance. "Second day of warrior-ship. Cut me some slack. Already, I can tell I have a more set-attitude than you do." She narrowed her daggered blue eyes at him and lashed her tail. Foxfang was crawling up her skin and it was driving her up the wall. She wanted to get him alone and ask how the heck he knew that Speedwell liked her.

Foxfang mrrowed with laughter. "Sorry to offend you. I just thought even the youngest apprentices knew to meet at the entrance for patrols." The tom laughed but quieted down as the patrol left. The three cats took off, Foxfang following the warrior in the lead. After a bit though, the warrior went separate ways to check an old fox den. Foxfang sat down lazily by a pool of water and ran a tongue over his paw before bringing it over his head. Stuck with Blightsoul, this would be fun.
